'The Women of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb'

The Manitou Springs Heritage Museum will present “The Women of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb” leading up to the June 21 race. Learn more about Loni Unser, who continues to blaze the trail for her legendary racing family, and other pioneering women including Michelle Mouton, who paved the way for her female successors. The exhibit will include exciting race photos, including ones taken by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Jackson. Tidal Breeze Hot Club Duo with Valerie Rose

The Tidal Breeze Hot Club Duo plays a variety of jazz, Latin jazz, swing, New Orleans, and blues. The duo is led by trumpeter Terri Pederson, who has performed with singer Ernestine Anderson, entertainer Clint Holmes, and jazz greats Bill Watrous and Phil Urso. Terri most recent single “Ode To The Emergency Room” is available on streaming platforms. The song stylings of Valerie Rose are featured along with Valerie laying down the base lines. Valerie embraced the San Francisco avant-garde art and music movement. Traveling for 4 years with The Melodious Monks, Valerie played hundreds of shows from Key West to the northwest, and then spent 10 years playing ‘8 days a week’ at festivals and other venues. Valerie plays jazz, swing, folk, blues and Grateful Dead fusion throughout the Front Range. We provide all the materials, just bring your imagination and sense of fun. Pottery teachers will show you how to use a potting wheel. You can come back the next week to pick up your pot to glaze it and take it home! Hand building is available, too. Write poems with the support of writing mentors using our prompts and other materials to got started. Write group poems with the direction of the mentors. Contribute to a community poem that will be published at the end of July. All ages and abilities are most welcome to join in. There will soup available if you are hungry.
