American Legion Post #39

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran’s organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.  Post #39 was chartered on August 1, 1920.  The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veteran’s service organizaiton.

In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad.  For god and country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security.

The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) is a program of The American Legion established at the national convention in 1932 in Portland, Oregon.  Since then, the SAL have assisted The American Legion with its programs and activities.
