The Virtual Museum, sponsored by the Manitou Springs Heritage Center, proudly hosts a live online presentation, the  “Fremont Experimental Forest Station 1909-1935” by local explorer and author, Eric Swab.  The abandoned block buildings you see off Barr Trail are the remains of the Fremont Experimental Forest, a tree science laboratory that existed from 1909-1935 with the mission of studying how Coloradans could repair forests.
