A Night with Poe

The Manitou Springs Historical Society Presents: “A Night With Poe,” at Miramont Castle. Enjoy the Castle in the cloak of the night with drinks, great food, and an interactive performance of an Edgar Allan Poe classic. The evening begins in the Great Hall where you will enjoy a selection of wine, beer, and the namesake ‘Amontillado’ sherry. Our culinary artist from the Tea Room has designed period-themed heavy appetizers and dessert to set the mood. Mingle about with other guests, and explore rooms and halls lit by oil lamp. Be on your toes for the Castle’s “permanent guests” who will want to join the festivities! At the appointed time, gather in the Chapel, to experience a dramatic reading of ‘The Cask of Amontillado,’ one of Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous short stories. Experience the chilling confession of a 50-year-old murder, delivered by the perpetrator of the crime. You may even hear the echo of poor Fortunato pleading for his life . . .

If you love literature, macabre humor, interactive theatre, and good food – this event is for you!

Ages 21+ please, as we will be serving alcoholic beverages. Help us create the perfect atmosphere, please dress in either all black, Steampunk or 1800’s period clothing. A few spooks are planned, and few just happen in a castle this old!
