Phil Carson and the Manitou Springs Heritage Center present a Virtual Program, “200th Anniversary of Edwin James’ Ascent of Pikes Peak”
Scale Pikes Peak with botanist Edwin James and author Phil Carson as the latter retraces James’ first recorded ascent 200 years ago. Carson’s illustrated talk covers the long native American presence in the region, two centuries of Spanish exploration and places Major Stephen Long’s expedition and James’ ascent into the context of the American westward movement.
