MuertosFest: Noche de los Muertos
October 27, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
MuertosFest: As part of the Emma Crawford Coffin Races
Noche de los Muertos is a “Day of the Dead” celebration that cross-pollinates ancient Mexican traditions with those of modern-day Halloween to create a unique event that is reverent, colorful, lively, and fun.
Now Celebrating their 8th annual, what began as a tribute to the ancestors of the event’s Mexican-American founders has become a much anticipated and unparalleled show replete with circus-style performances, a skeleton burning ceremony to honor the dearly departed, face-painting, piñatas, raffles, a costume contest, fortune tellers, and revelry all set against the backdrop of stunning visuals and Latin Gypsy music.
This year’s show will be the most extravagant to date— with musical performances by Noche-founders Moonhoney, Roma Ransom, aerial silk, tribal fusion, hoop, light wand, and Samba dancing. The New Depressionists will feature Ma Tackett as Emma Crawford performing work form the Rock Opera Emma: Manitou’s Queen of the Dead
Noche de los Muertos is unquestionably one of the most distinctive and spectacular events of the year.
