Run with the Burros

October 14, 2017 @ 11:00 am

5th Annual Run with the Burros! Last year we had over 200 participants + 15 burros, what will happen this year??? Come join Mike & Tony, burros Rosco + Cash + Mordecai and more!!

Manitou Brewing Co, housed in a former burro barn back in the late 1800’s, will be celebrating with the burros Sat, Oct 13. Join the local burro racers at 11 am for a free 5k jog/walk around the trails of Manitou Springs. Learn about this fun sport, have a chance to run with the burros yourself (next to, no ride alongs!), and afterward, hang out at Manitou Brewing and enjoy $1 off pints of MBC beer until 2pm {we will definitely be featuring our Burro Barn Brown Ale!}. If you do not want to join in the run, you are still welcome to come by, bring the kids, and visit with the friendly burros from 11:30 – 2.
Commemorative Run with the Burros T-Shirts will be available for pre-purchase {date TBD} or buy at Manitou Brewing beginning Saturday, Oct 13. Run with the Burros pint glasses will be available for purchase at MBC.

If you are interested in a more comprehensive burro experience, or maybe you’ve considered participating in a full burro race but have not fully committed yet, here’s your chance to learn more. For $30 you can enhance your Run with the Burros 5k experience to include an overview of how to handle a burro and get dedicated time “on the rope” during the 5k. Interested? Contact Amber Wann at amber@coloradoburrorentals.com but hurry as this is a first come, first serve opportunity with limited numbers.

This is a fun run/walk, a FREE event, no need to sign up ahead of time. Manitou Brewing will open at 10:00am, Saturday Oct 13.
Try to arrive BEFORE 11 AM so the run can get started on time. We will have a table set up outside the brewery, near Manitou Ave that EVERYONE will need to check in at. Once you check in, join the burros on the lawn of the Manitou Springs Library for the start of the run.
The following will be available at check-in:
*Pre-ordered t-shirts & pint glasses available for pickup
*Buy a Run with the Burros shirt and/or pint glass {CASH ONLY} or pay inside with credit card.
*All participants must sign an event safety waiver
*We will have a map route of the run available and can answer any other questions you may have.
Please dress accordingly with the proper footwear, part of this run is on a single track trail consisting of dirt, rocks, tree roots, etc. Strollers highly discouraged due to the single track course & a large number of participants. Bring your own water for during the run if necessary.
We do have a strict NO DOGS POLICY. First, while burros can become accustomed to and even “friends” with dogs, they really have to first get to know them. Absent that, they tend to view dogs as predators. As such, it is in the best interests of all participants to have a “NO DOG” policy for the event. Second, as a precaution to avoid accidentally startling a burro, please KEEP STROLLERS at least 20 feet away from them at all times. On that note, if you have small children, please accompany them if they wish to approach and pet the burros.
Please respect all trails and roads, especially important stay on the trail, DO NOT take shortcuts off the trail. Be prepared to walk on the section of the Intemann Trail due to the large number of participants + burros + single track trail. When on roads, stay to the left running against traffic. DO NOT impede traffic. In the Crystal Park Cemetary, please stay on the trail to the road. DO NOT LITTER. Thank you, everyone, for your cooperation and help make this event something to remember!
