As you know, we take the winter holidays pretty seriously in Manitou Springs! That carries all the way through to our annual Carnivale parade and Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo cook-off, which happen early in 2016 due to the lunar cycles that dictate the dates for the start of Lent and Easter.
In Manitou Springs, Carnivale is a mixed celebration of old tradition and freedom of expression. This community parade through downtown comes with a kaleidoscope of costumes, music, dance, food, entertainment, and celebrations throughout town. Many bars and dining establishments bring in music and have a special menu for the day, and beads and masks are readily available from a variety of merchants if you forget to bring your own.
