Academy Jazz Ensemble
The Academy Jazz Ensemble is a professional Jazz big band whose mission is to explore and preserve the music of America’s original art form. The membership includes the finest jazz musicians in the area, many of whom are public school teachers.
Our repertoire spans from rare and historical big band works to some of the newest original music for contemporary jazz bands. Our music book represents the passion and poise this ensemble brings to the stage. This passion makes the Academy Jazz Ensemble a unique voice in the Jazz community.

Front Range Big Band
THE NEW CENTURY BIG BAND was formed in October, 2002 as a “band for the community.”
The group performs regularly for special community events, park concerts, private parties and hosts the monthly BIG BAND SUNDAY at the Colorado Springs Senior Center.

Mike & Bertye Maddux (Bluegrass)
With roots in traditional bluegrass music, Mike and Bertye Maddux have been featured in concerts, festivals, and flatpicking guitar workshops around the United States.
A Winfield, Kansas, National Flatpicking Guitar Championship trophy winner, Mike features original instrumentals and songs from bluegrass and flatpicking guitar masters. Some of his original tunes are available on this web site in the audio section, or can be accessed via reverbnation using the icon at the bottom of the page.
With Bertye on bass and vocals this is an exciting, dynamic, and fun duo, that are always a popular addition to any concert and festival venue.

From gliding down snowy slopes to clipping an anchor above a rocky canyon, this band is constantly fueled and inspired by the beauty and adventure of their home state. Under dark twinkling skies and peaceful mountain evenings, inspiration runs freely through this group of best friends intent on sharing with the world their experiences and challenges through their music.

The members of Colorado Springs Sax Quartet are woodwind artists with a wealth of talent and experience and have performed together since 1995. Playing public and private venues throughout the greater Colorado Springs region and beyond, the quartet continues a never-ending quest for compositions to add to their repertoire of classics, jazz arrangements, popular and traditional quartets.
