HighWheeler consists of Marty Rust, vocals & guitar; Charla McGaugh, vocals, keyboard, and flute; Shug Miles, fiddle and mandolin; Rick Starkey, vocals, upright bass, and woodwinds; and, Stan Campbell, vocals and guitar. Originally formed in 2007, HighWheeler members Charla McGaugh and Marty Rust played Celtic and traditional Irish music. The band's "Highwheeler" name came from the fact that Marty Rust and his family were known for building and riding "Oridinary" bicycles (big front wheel, little back wheel) in Colorado Springs area. In 2009 they added Stan Campbell on guitar, Rick Starkey who plays on upright bass, sax, and flute, and Steve "Shug" Miles on mandolin and fiddle. With combined talents and styles, they have added bluegrass, and rock genres to the repertoire. You'll hear all time favorites like "Goin up the Country". The Last Thing on My Mind", and "Lay Down Sally". Then"Shug" gets goin on the fiddle with "Whiskey Before Breakfast", Cherokee Shuffle" and Salt Creek". They also play beautiful ballads like Ashokan Farewell", and "The Dance" with Charla on flute and piano. Marty and Stan's great vocals, lead and rhythm guitar complete the group, with their own toe-tappin "Rockygrass Style"
